Retention has been key as the senior squad have remained, with a few reinforcements brought in. Head of Rugby and 1st XV coach Phil Smith has been delighted with the work done off season. "We have added 5 players to the squad in key positions which gives us a little more pace outwide and more physicality up front." The club have appointed a 2nd XV coach and new Physios for both teams. The club had their traditional warm up fixture at Allianz Park against Harrow winning a tight contest 24-21. 1st XV captain Cian Hynes was pleased with the run out, "we got 30 players on the pitch and were a bit rusty at times, however beating a side from the league above and the way we played was really pleasing" With a transformed club house, a new changing room, continued sponsorship from the Claddagh Ring, Bodhran and new 1st XV shirt sponsor GCL Hendon have the foundations in place for a good season. Final words from Phil Smith "injuries and availability are always crucial at this level but, the squad are fitter than last year with extra depth and our aim is to be competitive in all our games."
