The club is saddened to report that Geoff Cooper passed away in his sleep on Sunday night. He was 101 years of age. Geoff was one of the founding members of Hendon RFC, establishing the club in 1932. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him will have appreciated his immense passion and enthusiasm for rugby and Hendon RFC. Even in his later years he regularly attended club AGMs and was a keen supporter of our new youth section. He is pictured here at the club’s 80th anniversary dinner in October 2012 where he was guest of honour after turning 100 just the week before.
His funeral will be held on Friday 8th August at the West Herts Crematorium, Watford at 12.40. Thereafter at the West Lodge Hotel, Hadley Wood to celebrate his life.
Club Ties would be appropriate rather than black. Cherril, Geoff’s daughter, commented that “Dad never liked black.” It would be fitting to give Geoff a well deserved send off with as many Club members past and present in attendance.
